Paris Nights
Spring and Summer of 2023

A video collage reflects my daily walks through the city’s public gathering spaces—parks, gardens, and squares—where people rest, exercise, and connect. These shared environments come alive through the presence and rhythms of the city’s inhabitants, forming informal, ever‑shifting communities.
The composition draws inspiration from Baroque painting, particularly Jacob Jordaens the Elder’s Last Judgment and Govert Flinck’s An Angel Announcing the Birth of Christ to the Shepherds, both on view at the Louvre. Their dramatic, multi‑layered arrangements inform the video’s structure, which is anchored by moments of leisure and everyday choreography.
The sculptures featured in the collage include Aristide Maillol’s Pomone (1910), Maillol’s Baigneuse Se Coiffant (1930), and François‑Léon Sicard’s Le Bon Samaritain (1896)—figures that echo the gestures, pauses, and intimacies unfolding in the surrounding public spaces.
